VAT Return Requirements
Your business must register for VAT if your VAT taxable turnover exceeds the VAT threshold which was £85,000 before 1st April 2024 and is £90,000 after 1st April 2024.
In most cases, VAT Returns and accompanying payments must be made quarterly to HMRC. When starting and running a business, it’s important to understand the different taxes that may apply to you.

Do I need to register for VAT?
You must register if either:
- your total taxable turnover for the last 12 months goes over £90,000 (the  VAT  threshold)
- you expect your taxable turnover to go over £90,000 in the next 30 days

How do I file my VAT Return?
With the introduction of Making Tax Digital all VAT returns must now be filed electronically. You can do this through your VAT Online account on the government website or through your accounting software, if you do not currently have accounting software we can provide cost efficient solutions tailored to your business.
